Here are some gameplay videos showing you what's changed in Pokemon Platinum. Just click the picture and you'll be able to see for yourself a nice video showing you specifically all of the things that have changed!
Platinum 01 - Your First Pokemon!
This episode shows some of the dialogue changes with Rowan, Barry, and even shows a special appearance by Cyrus early on. I'm actually quite surprised at how much the dialogue was changed, but I believe it's all for the better. There are a few other changes that I'll point out, too.
Platinum 02 - Good Looker in Jubilife!
Yep, cheesy name, but Looker is such a weirdo anyway. This episode features me catching really the only other Pokemon I'll be using on my steam, Aquilla the Starly, and then shows Jubilife City and Route 203 to the east. The Quick Claw is a pretty nice item, too, that I show you where to get. (:
Platinum 03 - Roark and Oreburgh City!
Now we get to Oreburgh City and get to see some of the changes made. They got rid of the guy that called you a noob. ): Any this basically covers all of Oreburgh City and the whole Oreburgh Gym, including the fight against the first Gym Leader, Roark.
Platinum 04 - Team Galactic Emerges!
On the way back to Jubilife City, you'll run into Looker again, and then on your way out, you'll run into Dawn and Rowan getting threatened by some Team Galactic thugs. Then it's just smooth sailing over to Floaroma Town.
Platinum 05 - The Windworks!
The whole adventure in Floaroma Town and the Valley Windworks is mostly unchanged - they even kept a certain favorite line of mine - but you will notice a few dialogue changes here and there and the introduction of the fourth Galactic Commander, Charon.
Platinum 06 - Eterna Forest!
Tons of Trainers stand in your way as you travel through Route 205 and Eterna Forest on your way to Eterna City. The Magikarp Trainer has even gotten a little revamp to his team. (:
Platinum 07 - Gardenia and Eterna City!
Eterna City has been redone a little bit, with Barry now showing you Cyrus drooling over the Dialga statue, Cynthia interrupting you on the way out, and then some slight adjustments to the Trainers out on Route 211. Eterna Gym has also gotten a revamp, along with its Gym Leader, Gardenia.
Platinum 08 - Jupiter in the Galactic HQ!
After taking on Gardenia in the Eterna Gym, it's time to take on the Galactic HQ that's been looming around town, giving people trouble!
Platinum 09 - Through Mt. Coronet!
Route 206 and 207 are pretty much unchanged, except for a few things here and there. Dawn now appears at the end of Route 207 rather than at the beginning. Cyrus is as creepy as ever. Etc. The Wayward Cave on Route 206 no longer requires Strength to access the secret basement, so we'll check that out on the next episode.
Platinum 10 - Way out in the Wayward Cave!
In Platinum, you can now visit the secret part of the Wayward Cave, which contains Gible. Yeah, that means you can get yourself a Gible pretty early on in the game without any trouble (well, catching it is a little bothersome). You can also get TM26 Earthquake down there, which is amazing for early on in the game. This video also shows the normal part of the Wayward Cave, popping by the Old Chateau (I go and catch Rotom later on, don't worry), and then exploring Hearthome City.
Platinum 11 - Fantina and the Hearthome Gym!
In Platinum, Fantina is now the 3rd Gym Leader rather than the 5th, so it's time to take her on as soon as you get to Hearthome City! The Hearthome Gym has changed its puzzle, too, so you'll need to use some flashlights to help navigate the place. Afterwards, you'll have a pretty challenging fight on your way east with Barry.
Platinum 12 - Lost in the Tower!
Still plenty of Trainers to fight on your way to Solaceon Town, but that's ok. All the more exp for you to earn! The Solaceon Ruins now have a Fire Stone, Water Stone, and a Thunderstone hidden inside for evolving your Eevee, which is nice, and it is also now the home of HM05 Defog. I also caught Rotom after I caught Zubat but before I went back to the Lost Tower, but I'll have that in episode 13 because there wasn't room. (:
Platinum 13 - Rotom and Veilstone City!
As promised, here's the fight against Rotom, which can be fought between 8:00pm and 4:00am. 20:00 - 4:00 on your clock Poketch app thing. After Rotom, there's a bunch of Trainers north of Solaceon Town and on the way to Veilstone City. Yep, tons for you to fight, so get to it!
Platinum 14 - Maylene and the Veilstone Gym!
The fourth Gym (third Gym in Diamond and Pearl) has gotten redone quite a lot. The puzzle has changed entirely and now you have to knock around these punching bags in order to get to the Gym Leader, Maylene. Her lineup is the same as it was, though, but her Pokemon are a bit stronger than before. You'll also have to take on some Galactic goons with Dawn (or Lucas if you're playing as a girl) afterward to reclaim her Pokedex.
Platinum 15 - Road to Pastoria City!
Plenty of Trainers to fight along Routes 213 and 214 on your way to Pastoria City, so be sure to fight them all to get lots of EXP and to fill up pages in your Pokedex! It'll come in handy, don't worry. You can also pick up the Magmarizer for evolving your Magmar and a Razor Fang for evolving your Gligar on Route 214.
Platinum 16 - Route 212 and the Pokemon Mansion!
This place is entirely optional if you take Route 213 and Route 214 to get to Pastoria City, but I recommend still checking it out to get some EXP from the Trainers on the route. You can also stop by the Pokemon Mansion and look at the book on the table of Mr. Backlot's room to see a picture of Manaphy for your Pokedex.
Platinum 17 - Crasher Wake and the Pastoria Gym!
The fifth gym in Platinum (fourth in Diamond and Pearl) hasn't been changed that much, but the Trainers have souped up their Pokemon's levels now and have changed their teams around a little bit. Crasher Wake is tougher than before and will be a tough fight for your fifth Badge. After beating him, though, you still need to chase after the Galactic goon, but the scene has gotten a bit different there, too. Oh, and you no longer get Defog inside of the Great Marsh, so there's no real reason to go in there now unless you want to catch some Pokemon (there are new Pokemon in there).
Platinum 18 - Celestic Town's Old Lore!
The road to Celestic Town, north of Solaceon Town, can only be accessed after you've gotten the SecretPotion from Cynthia after chasing down the Galactic goon and you'll need to have a Pokemon with Defog in order to make your way through the northern part of Route 210 (it's not necessary, but highly recommended). New in Solaceon Town, you'll have to fight against a Team Galactic Grunt and the Boss of Team Galactic himself!
Platinum 19 - Set Sail to Canalave City!
Now that you have HM03 Surf, it's time to return to Jubilife City and then sail west to Canalave City! There's a fight with Barry lurking for you there, but he's not that much tougher than he was in Pastoria. Before taking on the Gym, I'd advise stopping by Iron Island to get some extra Exp. I'll continue my coverage of Iron Island on the next episode, don't worry! (:
Platinum 20 - Byron, Iron Island, and the Canalave Gym!
Continuing the trek through Iron Island down here. Riley's gotten a bit better in Platinum, now having a level 41 Lucario. I don't really fight with him except for the very end because I'd rather know how much money each trainer gives for my Walkthrough, sorry folks. After taking on Iron Island, it's time to head to the Canalave Gym to take on the Gym Leader, Byron!
Platinum 21 - Battle in the Lakes!
After getting your 6th badge, you'll need to go to the Canalave Library and go through a ton of dialogue. Then you need to go to Lake Valor and Lake Verity to take on Team Galactic, who's up to their usual shenanigans.
Platinum 22 - To the Snowy North!
The way to Lake Acuity and Snowpoint City is long and treacherous. You need to travel through the northern part of Mt. Coronet and head north. Make sure to bring Pokemon with Strength and Defog at the very least, though Surf and Rock Smash are also recommended! As you get through Route 217, MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU PICK UP HM08 ROCK CLIMB! You need it to get through the game!
Platinum 23 - Candice and the Snowpoint Gym!
They changed the puzzle inside of the Snowpoint Gym, but it's still basically the same; just slide around on the ice and smash the snowballs. Candice is unfortunately the Gym Leader I was most worried about for my team due to its blatant weakness to Ice, but oh well, at least it's out of the way. Remember to watch out for that Hail + Blizzard combo! And Froslass evasion hax!
Platinum 24 - The Galactic HQ!
Time to go through the Team Galactic HQ in Veilstone City! Make sure you talk to the Galactic Grunt outside of the building if you're stuck! Also if you're stuck (which you shouldn't be if you were following these videos), you need to make sure you use Rock Climb up at the Acuity Lakefront to see Barry getting his rear kicked by Jupiter.
Platinum 25 - King of the Galaxy!
Time to take on two bosses in the Galactic HQ! The first is your rematch with Cyrus, and he's gotten quite a bit stronger from the last time you fought him. Then, after getting the Master Ball from him, you need to go save the three Pokemon of the lakes and you'll have to fight Saturn to do so! After that, it's time to head to the top of Mt. Coronet, so make sure you fully stock up your inventory with Hyper Potions, Full Restores, Dusk Balls, Full Heals, Revives, and Max Repels before heading up there!
Platinum 26 - The Battle at the Spear Pillar!
Getting through Mt. Coronet can be a bit bothersome, but you'll get through it as long as you sort of pay attention to where you're going and don't get distracted by the places you really don't have to go. Just follow the video and it'll tell you how to get through if you're stuck. At the very top, you'll have to fight against Mars and Jupiter in one fina- well, actually not so final fight anymore. But it's still a very cool fight.
Platinum 27 - The New Cataclysm!
This scene is just so awesome now, omg. Short episode, but that's to make room for a full episode to help get through the Distortion World rather than split it up.
Platinum 28 - The Distortion World!
This is the Distortion World, a very cool place added to Pokemon Platinum. It's a pretty long dungeon with a few puzzles and mazes here and there, though (thankfully) no wild Pokemon to fight. I had a lot of fun with it. (: Anyway, this isn't the entire thing, but it gets you through all of the puzzles inside of the Distortion World, and that's really most helpful. The next two videos will be of Cyrus and Origin Forme Giratina respectively.
Platinum 29 - Cyrus' Last Stand!
Well, this is it, the final fight against Cyrus in Platinum, and he's gotten quite a bit more challenging since the days of Diamond and Pearl. Not only that, but a lot more dramatic, too! His Pokemon are between levels 45 and 48 and they pack a mighty punch. Be extra careful when fighting him! Then be sure to prepare yourself to take on Giratina itself after the fight! (Not immediately after and your Pokemon will be healed afterwards, don't worry.)
Platinum 30 - Giratina, Origin Forme!
Well, this is it, probably the coolest fight in the game - the fight against Origin Forme Giratina in the Distortion World! Do your best to catch it with Dusk Balls and, if you can, afflict it with Paralyze or Sleep. It's still gonna take a lot for you to catch it... Also, if you don't catch it, you CAN catch it later on in the game in the Turnback Cave, but it will be in its Altered Forme (the D/P form). Actually, it'll be in Altered Forme after you catch it until you get the Griseous Orb from the Turnback Cave. I'll have a video showing how to get that after beating the Elite 4 and catching Heatran.
