- HeartGold & SoulSilver -

Here is Marriland's SoulSilver Adventure series, showing you some of the things that are fresh and new to the Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver games! This page will be updated frequently with new videos, so check back often! In the meanwhile, you can also find the answers to a lot of your questions at the HeartGold and SoulSilver Walkthrough.

SoulSilver 01 - A New Journey!
This first episode features some of the new gameplay on Pokemon SoulSilver, including the remade New Bark Town, me getting my first Pokemon (Chikorita), and a battle or two before arriving at Cherrywood City.

SoulSilver 02 - Of Eggs and Trainers
This second episode covers everything from Route 30 on, showing you the way to Mr. Pokemon's house, getting the Pokedex from Professor Oak, fighting against a mysterious boy who is quite a jerk, and then heading all the way on over to Violet City!

SoulSilver 03 - Sprout Tower
This third episode shows you some of the Monks inside of Sprout Tower as well as the fight against the Elder himself.

SoulSilver 04 - Falkner and the Zephyr Badge
This fourth episode shows the fight against Falkner, the Gym Leader of Violet City. He uses an annoying Pidgey to soften you up for his tough Pidgeotto. Watch out for that Roost! It is very problematic if you don't have any way to raise your stats or lower its stats!

SoulSilver 05 - Through the Union Cave
This fifth episode covers Route 32 to the south after beating Falkner, shows you some of the Union Cave (there's plenty more to explore later on after you get Surf), and it brings you to Azalea Town.

SoulSilver 06 - Slowwwwww-poke Well!
This sixth episode shows you the Rocket's invasion of the Slowpoke Well, taking on the Rocket Executive Proton, and even me catching a certain Pokemon for more than just a souvenir!

SoulSilver 07 - Bugsy and the Azalea Gym
This seventh episode shows you the Azalea Gym and how to get through its puzzle, as well as the Gym Leader, Bugsy! He uses a pretty rough Scyther that will keep itself shielded behind Bugsy's cocooned decoys — Metapod and Kakuna. Handle with care!

SoulSilver 08 - Ilex Forest
This eighth episode shows you the Ilex Forest after having to fight your rival, Silver, right before it! If you're stuck with those darn Farfetch'd, this might be a good episode for you to watch, because it shows you how to get through that puzzle.

For reference's sake, down here are some videos recorded by Marriland of the Japanese version of Pokemon SoulSilver. They may be slightly outdated, but they are still enjoyable to watch nonetheless.

SoulSilver 01 - A New Journey!
SoulSilver 01 - A New Journey!
In this episode, I get my first Pokemon from Prof. Elm, get my Pokegear, and then head off to run an errand for Prof. Elm. Also, this episode shows the opening sequence (future episodes won't have a minute-long intro, don't worry!). My apologies for a bit blurry of an opening.

SoulSilver 02 - Meet Mr. Pokemon!
SoulSilver 02 - Meet Mr. Pokemon!
In this episode, I explore Route 29, fight against some wild Pokemon, get the Running Shoes from a spry old man, and get the Mystery Egg from Mr. Pokemon - as well as my Pokedex from his friend!

SoulSilver 03 - Fight against Rival!
SoulSilver 03 - Fight against Rival!
In this episode, I take on the rival from HeartGold and SoulSilver, who I wind up naming Silvr (since there's room for just 5 characters). Then I give Elm the Mystery Egg, watch Kotone catch a Rattata, and then catch a few Pokemon of my own.

SoulSilver 04 - Violets are Blue!
SoulSilver 04 - Violets are Blue!
In this episode, I fight against some of the Trainers on Route 30 and Route 31 on my way to Violet City, checking out the Dark Cave, catching Pokemon, and picking up items along the way.

SoulSilver 05 - Sprout Tower!
SoulSilver 05 - Sprout Tower!
In this episode, I climb up the Sprout Tower and fight against a bunch of Sages with Bellsprouts. The final fight against the Elder will be in the next episode, as I ran out of time in this one.

YOU MUST BEAT THE ELDER ON THE TOP OF THE SPROUT TOWER TO PROCEED IN THE VIOLET GYM! Just saying that, because that's a change from the original Gold and Silver.

SoulSilver 06 - Respect Your Elder!
SoulSilver 06 - Respect Your Elder!
In this episode, I take on the Elder in the Sprout Tower, get TM70 (Flash), and catch a few Pokemon on Route 32 and Route 31. Also, I show the trade with a Bellsprout for an Onix.

SoulSilver 07 - Falkner and the Violet Gym!
SoulSilver 07 - Falkner and the Violet Gym!
In this episode, I enter the Violet Gym, fight its Trainers, and then battle Falkner in a rough fight against his new and improved team! Well, he still uses a Pidgey and Pidgeotto, but they're higher level and have Roost, making it quite a tough fight. Also, after beating Falkner, you can get the Egg from the Poke Mart by talking to Elm's Aide.

SoulSilver 08 - Alph-abet Soup!
SoulSilver 08 - Alph-abet Soup!
In this episode, I explore the Ruins of Alph, get HM06 (Rock Smash) from a guy west of Violet City, and make my way south onto Route 32 towards the Union Cave and eventually my second Gym.

In addition to Marriland's SoulSilver videos, here are some gameplay videos showing you Pokemon SoulSilver (Japanese) provided by solracnaujchile of YouTube and used with permission. As I didn't make these videos, I'm not responsible for their content or quality, but I think they're awesome quality and a great look at some exciting moments in HeartGold and SoulSilver!

Raikou, Entei, and Suicune
Raikou, Entei, and Suicune
Raikou & Entei are the first Roaming Pokémon that you will meet. When you enter the basement of the Brass Tower, Raikou, Entei & Suicune will quickly leave the area. From here, Raikou & Entei will be roaming the land of Johto.
Suicune is somewhat different to the other Legendary Beasts in that it does not roam Johto in the manner Entei & Raikou do. Instead, it is a stationary legendary. However, before you can get it, you must chase it around. At some points in the game, you will meet Eusine and he will follow you as he is also tracking Suicune. Suicune, like Entei & Raikou is released into Johto when you access the basement of the Brass Tower.

Suicune is seen in the following places and you must follow it if you wish to capture it. First, it will be found in the north of Cianwood City. After you encounter it there, you will shortly find it outside the entrance of Mt. Mortar in Route 42. Once you find it here, it will leave Johto and head to Kanto where you will see it in Vermillion City soon after you arrive. Next you will see it in Route 14 where it will escape for the final time to be found outside Bill's House in Route 25. This is where you battle Suicune.

Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres
Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres
Articuno, following on from its location in Fire Red & Leaf Green, can now be found deep within the Seafoam Islands.
Zapdos, like in FireRed & LeafGreen, is findable in the Power Plant zone, but now outside, in Route 10 of Kanto.
Moltres, unlike the other two birds, is found in a completely different place. In HeartGold / SoulSilver, Moltres will be found within the Silver Cave, on the boundaries of Johto & Kanto.

Mewtwo
Mewtwo
As with FireRed & LeafGreen, after you complete the majority of the game, you will gain access to the Cerulean Cave. Deep within the cave you will find Mewtwo.

Arceus and the Shinto Ruins

This is done by going to the Shinto Ruins, hidden somewhere in Johto with Arceus on your team. You will encounter Cynthia who will tell you that Arceus has the ability of creating certain Pokémon. These Pokémon are Dialga, Palkia & Giratina. You have a choice of the Pokémon you can create but you can only create one so choose wisely.
They are all at Level 1 and holding their respective orbs, so it is a truely personal preference based decision and they all have moves they don't normally know.

Dialga Lv. 1
Special Attack: Metal Burst

Palkia Lv. 1
Special Attack: Hydro Pump

Giratina Lv. 1
Special Attack: Shadow Sneak

Latios, Groudon, and Rayquaza
Latios, Groudon, and Rayquaza
(Latios & Groudon are exclusives of Soul Silver, Latias & Kyogre are exclusives of Heart Gold)

When you have obtained the National Pokédex and have exited the Pokémon Fan Club in Vermillion City, Steven Stone of Hoenn will come and tell you that Latios/Latias has begun roaming the land of Kanto.

For Groudon/Kyogre, you need to obtain the Blue Orb if in Heart Gold or the Red Orb if in Soul Silver. These orbs are found from Mr. Pokémon after you have obtained the National Dex and received the Kanto starters from Professor Oak. With these orbs in hand, you need to head to a cave in Route 47, the Hidden Tower. Traverse the cave and you will find Kyogre if you're playing Heart Gold or Groudon if you are playing Soul Silver.

Rayquaza is a legendary Pokémon whom you'll have the most trouble getting. To get Rayquaza, you have to take the Green Orb to the same cave you obtained Kyogre or Groudon within. However, to get the Light Green Orb, you need to have both Kyogre & Groudon. This includes the one you captured in your game and one you obtained in a trade, but captured within the Heart Gold or Soul Silver game only. Once you have these two Pokémon, go to Professor Oak and show them to him. He will give you the Light Green Orb. With it, just go to the Hidden Tower and Rayquaza will appear

The Pokethlon
The Pokethlon
Pokéthlon is a new game feature introduced in Pokémon Heart Gold & Pokémon Soul Silver. In the west of the National Park in Johto is the Pokéthlon Dome. This Dome is where a whole new Pokémon contest stands. However, the Pokéthlon is much different to the contests of Hoenn & Sinnoh. The Pokéthlon provides a variety of different games and events for the Pokémon to take part in. You always enter with three Pokémon. If you win the activity, you will get "Suron Points" which you can then exchange for prizes.

To enter in the Pokéthlon, you have to select three Pokémon. The Pokémon you select should reflect the option you chose. As such, the Pokémon have specific stats for each of the categories. You can improve these stats through shaking Apricorns, but the maximum stats do depend on the Pokémon that you are entering.

For each event you play, you earn a variety of points. After the round of three, you get given the points you have earned, plus 100 points if you came in first. You can then spend these points on cards to keep your records or on a variety of special and rare items.

Celebi & Notched Ear Pichu Events
Celebi & Notched Ear Pichu Events
CELEBI EVENT
Soon, Nintendo will give out a special Celebi at an event. This Celebi will activate a special bit of backstory into the whole Rocket system. When you have your Celebi, go to Ilex Forest and itneract with the shrine. When done, Kotone/Hibiki will appear and talk to you. Soon after, Celebi starts glowing and throws you back in time.
You, your Celebi, and Kotone/Hibiki will arrive in Route 22. Unsure what's going on, you quickly overhear a conversation between your rival, Silver, and his father. His father is berating him for not wanting to partake in his plans with Team Rocket. They argue for a bit and then part ways. His father heads west towards Johto and Silver runs south, bumping into you and making a remark before leaving. Shortly after this exchange happens, Celebi starts to glow and you travel through time again
You & Kotone/Hibiki emerge in a cave in Johto. There is nothing in this cave except for a man and a radio. The man is the same man whom Silver was arguing with. On the radio, the broadcast Apollo and the other admins sent out, calling to Giovanni, is played.. Giovanni doesn't seem phased by this but turns around and sees you and he challenges you. After you defeat him, he will tell you that you remind him of the same kid who ended his plans 3 years earlier and will quickly leave. After this, Celebi returns you back to Ilex Forest and back to your true time.

NOTCHED EAR PICHU
If you send over the special Pikachu Coloured Pichu obtained from the special 12th movie event given away from June 19th to July 18th, a special event will activate. This event takes place in Ilex Forest. When you go by Celebi's Shrine in Ilex Forest when you have the Pikachu Coloured Pichu in your party, a Notched-Ear Pichu will appear.
With the Pikachu Coloured Pichu and the Notched Ear Pichu in Ilex Forest, the Notched Ear Pichu shall then join your team. This Pichu is completely unique and you will be unable to get it by any other means. However, there are a variety of new details about it.
The Notched Ear Pichu is always female and appears to be given to you at level 30. It has many attacks that Pichu would not normally know.
Attacks:

Volt Tackle
Helping Hand
Swagger
Pain Split

However, there is a draw back to the Notched-Ear Pichu. First, the Pichu is unable to evolve into Pikachu and as such not into Raichu. In addition to this, it is unable to be traded to other games.
If you take the Notched Ear Pichu to Professor Elm's and have it at the front of your party, you will get some backstory of the Pichu. Professor Elm will say that Professor Oak has recently discussed Celebi's time travel abilities and that the Pichu proves his theory. The Notched-Ear Pichu arrived in this time by Ilex Forest through time travelling with Celebi, which explains why it cannot be traded and why the trainer needs to take care of it.
In addition to that, all the time travelling it has done has also caused its body to stick in its current state. Professor Elm then goes to contact all the Pokémon Centre attendants to prevent the Notched Ear Pichu from being used in game to game trades
